For most, September is the initial start of fall and back to school time. But for the fashion crazed enthusiasts it means counting down until the beginning of New York Fashion week. With the changes in fashion, most are experiencing sheer excitement for the upcoming shows and what new trends to expect.

The week at a glance

Launching in 1943, New York Fashion Week is one of the most prominent events in the fashion industry. Held semi-annually in February and September lasting seven to nine days, this is the must go to event of the season. Collections from major designers are shown to the press, general public, and buyers.  With New York being one of the four major fashion weeks, the first sign of the black matte signs hanging from the city street poles creates general excitement for the public.

Street Style

For the last couple of years, New York Fashion week street style has been sharing  the attention with the main stages. Street style is the mix of individualism and the current fashion trends. We’re really looking forward to the new styles on the street, especially since the seasons have changed from the winter fashions. During winter fashion week we saw a lot of coats, layering, and boots based on the colder weather. Now that the fall shows are happening in September and the weather is a little warmer, the styles we will see will be lighter than they were a couple months ago. Fashionistas around the globe love watching fashion week's street styles for inspiration on adapting the new couture looks for everyday wear.  Rihanna x Fenty 

Recently, it was announced that Rihanna will be the unofficial closer of the event filled week with her Savage x Fenty collection. With her 7:30 p.m. time slot following the 6 p.m. Marc Jacobs show, we can expect that the last show of fashion week must be something special. Last year, Rihanna's Fenty x Puma BMX inspired line was an unexpected spectacle that thrilled fashion-lovers everywhere.

 Ralph Lauren Golden Anniversary

The American fashion house of Ralph Lauren has reached an enormous milestone, celebrating 50 years in the luxury fashion industry. Ralph Lauren began his eponymous brand in 1967 as a menswear collection and then branched out in the 1970's into womenswear. The brand hosted an event to mark the actual 50th anniversary in September 2017, however the official celebration will take place during 2018 New York Fashion Week. While still acting as the chief creative officer, Ralph Lauren created one of the most well-known brands in the fashion industry. Celebrating in true style, the show itself will take place against the backdrop of Bethesda Terrace fountain in none other than Manhattan's Central Park with a dinner to follow for VIP guests. For a brand that started in New York,  it is only right to have the golden anniversary celebration in the city as well.
