(UPDATE 1/20, 10:40am): Melania has arrived at the inauguration ceremony wearing a sky blue Ralph Lauren suit with matching gloves and shoes. The look is simple, classic, and reminiscent of what Jackie Kennedy wore to JFK's 1961 inauguration. Tomorrow Melania Trump will become a newly minted First Lady, and the eyes of the world will be upon on her. Every style choice she makes from here on out will be subject to scrutiny and discussion.... it's not a position for the faint of heart. But Melania seems to possess her fair share of steely resolve and will undoubtedly maintain her composure. The subject of who will dress her has been a contentious one in the fashion world. Many designers have stated their refusals, while others have come forward saying that they would. A few weeks ago Dolce & Gabanna posted a photo of the future First Lady wearing one of their dresses. The post unleashed a tidal wave of reactions with over 15,000 likes and more than 1,800 comments. It received both good and bad responses, and the brand has since removed it from its feed.
But there is still a big question that's floating around: which fashion designer will dress Melania the inauguration? The thing is, the question of who will dress her is a moot point. She can very well buy any dress that she pleases. However, Ralph Lauren is rumored to be dressing her. If that's the case it's an interesting choice, since he also dressed Hillary Clinton for two notable campaign events. Melania's fashion is turning into a bipartisan issue, but wouldn't she just trump us all if she opted to buy her own inaugural outfits? Perhaps a message of independence is just what America needs to see from its new First Lady tomorrow. *Feature image by Disney ABC Television Group via Flickr
